No plans to join Modi government, says TRS leader
Hyderabad, Feb 17
The Telangana Rashtra
Samithi (TRS) is not planning to join the National Democratic Alliance
(NDA) central government, a state cabinet minister said Tuesday.
Energy Minister Jagdish Reddy dismissed reports that the TRS is planning to join the Modi government.
"There is no such proposal. There is no truth in these reports," the minister told reporters.
Stressing
there was no discussion in TRS on joining the NDA government, he said
irrespective of which coalition is in power, the central government
should extend all cooperation to Telangana for its development.
Chief
Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao's meeting with Prime Minister Narendra
Modi in New Delhi Monday had sparked off speculations in the political
circles.
The TRS chief had 45-minute-long meeting with Modi
without any aides or party leaders. There were also speculations that
Rao's daughter K. Kavitha may join the union cabinet.
The TRS,
however, said the chief minister met Modi with a demand to make adequate
allocation to the state in the union budget and also to undo the
injustice done to it in united Andhra Pradesh.
Rao, who was in
Delhi to attend the marriage of BJP president Amit Shah's son, also
urged Modi to own up state government's flagship programmes.
The
Telangana chief minister was in Mumbai Tuesday to meet his Maharashtra
counterpart to discuss inter-state irrigation projects.
