Stand up against abuse, Shraddha exhorts women
Actress Shraddha Kapoor has slammed the concept of International Women's
Day, which is celebrated globally on March 8. She suggests people
should stand up against abuse every day and not just on a single day.
The
26-year-old, who has starred in films like “Aashiqui 2â€, “Ek Villainâ€
and “Haiderâ€, took to Twitter Sunday to express her views on the
day-to-day life of women, saying they are “objectified, abused and
treated worse than garbage".
In a series of tweets, Shraddha
wrote: Every 20 mins or so, there is a rape happening in our country.
And today we are "celebrating" womens day.
“No single day can
express the injustice that women have to go through everyday. To be
objectified, abused and treated worse than garbage."
She
continued: “Stand up against this abuse, not just today but every day.
Women are NOT objects. They NEED to be respected. Women empowerment is
the best change to make the world a better place.â€
Shraddha will be next seen in Remo D'Souza's “AnyBody Can Dance 2â€.
