Elton John vows to boycott Dolce & Gabbana
London, March 15
Singing legend Elton John has
vowed to boycott fashion label Dolce & Gabbana after the designers
slammed same gender families.
The singer posted a photograph of
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana on Instagram and branded them
"judgemental" and "archaic" after they were interviewed in Italy's
Panorama magazine, reports mirror.co.uk.
"We oppose gay adoptions," they told the publication. "The only family is the traditional one.
"No chemical offsprings and rented uterus: life has a natural flow, there are things that should not be changed."
Dolce
said that creating children "must be an act of love", adding: "You are
born to a mother and a father - or at least that's how it should be.
"I call children of chemistry, synthetic children. Uteri (for) rent, semen chosen from a catalog."
Gabbana then said: "The family is not a fad. In it there is a supernatural sense of belonging."
The
"Your song" hitmaker has sons Zachary, 4, and Elijah, 2, with husband
David Furnish, who were born to the same surrogate mother in Calfornia
in 2010 and 2013.
John wrote a post: "How dare you refer to my beautiful children as 'synthetic'.
"And
shame on you for wagging your judgemental little fingers at IVF - a
miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and
gay, to fulfil their dream of having children.
"Your archaic
thinking is out of step with the times, just like your fashions. I shall
never wear Dolce and Gabbana ever again. #BoycottDolceGabbana."
