Centre sends disaster response teams to Kashmir
New Delhi:The central government has sent two teams of the National Disaster Response Force to the flood ravaged Kashmir Valley, an official communique said on Monday.
Following incessant rainfall over the past four days, floods ravaged the Kashmir Valley on Monday.
The home ministry is in touch with the Jammu and Kashmir government and "closely monitoring the situation of increasing water levels in Jhelum river at Srinagar", the statement said.
Two teams of NDRF have been deputed and four teams have been kept on stand-by as precautionary measures in case of any breach of embankment, it said.
