Hindu Students Council to host Global Dharma Conference to celebrate 25th anniversary
Edison, New
Jersey - Hindu Students Council (HSC), the largest Hindu
youth organization in North America, announced
that it will host the Global Dharma Conference 2015 to commemorate its 25th Year
Anniversary on September 11th-13th, 2015.
Dharma, one of the most powerful concepts realized by
the enlightened Hindu sages and those of other Indic traditions, literally
means ‘that which holds together’ or ‘that which sustains a being.’ Going
beyond just religion, it is a combination of forces that sustain life and
principles that lead to the path of righteousness and harmony.
Global Dharma Conference 2003 featured international
luminaries including former President of India Dr. Abdul Kalam, former NJ
Governor James McGreevey, HDH Pramukh Swami Maharaj, HH Shankaracharya of
Kanchi Peetham, Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswati, Dr. Deepak Chopra, Dr. David
Frawley, Dr. Subhash Kak, actress Goldie Hawn, Tabla Maestro Ustad Zakir
Hussain and many other prominent personalities. It was attended by over 2000
people, from around 20 countries and students from over 70 universities around
the world. It was also supported by over 50 different local and global
organizations, including, but not limited, to Arsha Vidya Gurukulam,
Bochasanwasi Shree Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS), Art of
Living, Chinmaya Mission, Ramakrishna Mission, Sikh Sangat, World Buddhist
Association, and World Council of Elders of the Ancient Traditions and
Cultures.
The 2015 conference, to be held at the New Jersey Convention
and Exposition Center,
in Edison, New Jersey, aims to explore and understand
the multi-faceted applications of Dharma for the Self as well as for
the Society and the World - whether through the multi-faceted systems of Yoga
or the invaluable teachings of Vedas and Vedanta. Hence, the conference
will feature talks, workshops, performances and music that depict various
expressions of Dharma.
With a theme of “Reconnect, Rejuvenate and Realizeâ€, Global
Dharma Conference 2015 will build upon the success of the first conference and
will feature several prominent dignitaries, speakers, celebrity guests and
artists from around the world.
HSC hopes that a deeper understanding and practice of Dharma
can lead to a more fulfilled life and naturally a more harmonious society.
