You might have already heard about ‘Summer to Kerala’ program organized by FOMAA. It is an Educational Root Tourism program for Middle and High School Students taken up as a visionary project to start in summer of 2015.

Seventeen Malayalee Students from US will go as a group to travel in Kerala for 15 days, to seek their roots and to see everything Kerala has to offer as part of a very safe and organized program. We have identified IISAC, a New Jersey based non-profit with offices in Kottayam, Kerala, and with significant experience running such student exchange programs in Kerala as our local partner in Kerala.

IISAC has experience taking American college students every year as part of their ‘Semester in Kerala’ program and that amply qualifies them to be FOMAA’s partner in ‘Summer to Kerala’ program.

‘Summer to Kerala’ program will focus on cultural & language exchange and art programs, adventure, education, learning and volunteering. The students should leave Kerala with a true love for the country, a sense of collective responsibility for the future of the country of their parents; a deeper understanding of what India/Kerala is really about and new friends who share your love and passion for India/Kerala, all the while having tons of fun. In today’s business world of transcending boundaries and time zones, there is a lot students from all over the world to learn by going to India, the mecca of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO).

In addition to all the cultural interactions and awareness, they will also develop a clear perspective of globalization and will gain firsthand knowledge of emerging realities in the global business domain.

Thousands of families of Kerala origin living in USA have been looking forward to engage their children in cultural immersion activities for their children in Kerala. They have been taking their children on their own to accomplish that goal. However more often than not, the children come back bored and unhappy, as a result of the limitations parents have in making the trip more enjoyable and exciting.

For most children with such experience, their preference is to avoid Kerala/India in their future endeavors.

This is where FOMAA-IISAC partnership becomes all the more relevant. FOMAA the largest Malayali organization of its kind and IISAC an academic institution with an excellent track record, together developed this unique program to present a two weeks Kerala visit, as the most enjoyable and enriching experience of your children’s school years.

The experienced professors and technocrats associated with FOMAA in USA and in India have come forward to work as volunteers to implement the program effectively. FOMAA promotes this program in USA through its member associations and other cultural/religious community organizations. IISAC is exceptionally qualified and experienced to run such a program and is taking care of all activities of FOMAA’s ‘Summer to Kerala’ Program in India, under the guidance of FOMAA.

Now we need your help to spread the news and to encourage our children in our communities to join the ‘Summer To Kerala’ program. Various other communities and nationalities in the USA conduct such programs very successfully and that keep their children loving and caring for their motherland for their entire life. We too need to do what we can to instill such commitment and pride in our children’s hearts and minds, and you too can help. Please talk to the youth, 13 to 22 years old, in your community and encourage them to join the program in summer 2015. The program dates are from August 1st to August 15th, 2015. Please direct them to www.summertokerala.com for learning more about the program.

Looking forward to your help in making ‘Summer to Kerala’ a grand success.
