Helicopter lands on US Capitol grounds, pilot in custody

A small helicopter landed
on the west lawn of the US Capitol, and a single occupant aboard has
been detained, US Capitol Police said.
"The US Capitol Police is
investigating a gyro copter with a single occupant that has landed on
the grassy area of the West Lawn of the US Capitol," Capitol Police
spokesperson Kimberly Schneider said on Wednesday. "The US Capitol
Police continues to investigate with one person detained and temporary
street closures in the immediate area."
According to newspaper Tampa Bay Times, the man named Doug Hughes, and he is a mailman from Ruskin, Florida.
Hughes
"intends to deliver letters to Congress asking them to change the
campaign finance laws," revealed a four and half minutes' video named "A
Special Delivery."
"I have got a plane, a gyro-plane. And I'm
going to fly it, I'm going to violate the no-fly zone, non-violently,"
Hughes said in the video. "I'm going to land on the Capitol Mall."
"No sane person would do what I'm doing," he said.
