41,000 units sold on Akshaya Tritiya: Honda Motorcycles

Two wheeler-maker Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India on Monday said it sold over 41,000 units on Akshaya Tritiya day celebrated on April 21.

In a statement, Honda Motorcycle said customer demand was bullish for two wheelers and its retail sales breached the 41,000 units mark on April 21.

The sales growth on this year's Akshaya Tritiya day was almost 50 percent over last year's numbers.

"The 50 percent increase in sales during Akshaya Tritiya is a significant jump, and even surpassed all our expectations," Yadvinder S Guleria, senior vice president (sales and marketing) was quoted as saying in the statement.

Akshaya Tritiya, an auspicious day for Hindus and Jains, is believed to bring good luck and success in whatever endeavour one undertakes on this day. It is considered auspicious to bring home gold on this day.
