Bajaj Auto looking at 23 percent market share
Kolkata, May 11
Two-wheeler major Bajaj Auto
said on Monday it is looking at increasing its market share in the
overall two-wheeler segment to nearly 23 percent from its existing 17
percent.
"We want to increase our total market share in the
two-wheeler segment to 23 percent", the company's president of
motorcycle business, Eric Vas, told media persons here.
He said the projected growth depends a lot on the performance of the 100 cc bike category.
He
said, the company is keen to grow its sportsbikes segment as well and
increase its present market share in the entry-level racing category to
50 percent.
As per the company, the super-bikes segment
encompassing the race sports category is less than one per cent of the
overall bike market.
"In the racing segment, which we entered
just now with the launch of two models, we are aiming to sell 10,000
motorcycles per month," he said.
Vas said the company, besides
launching two bikes in the amateur racing category this month, another
launch of its Pulsar series is planned during June-July this year.
He also hinted the company is considering to launch models in the 350-400 cc category.
