Mother's Day at The Grove of Skokie Living and Rehab Center

Celebrated Mother’s day with their family members on Sunday-April 26, 2015 at
The Grove Nursing Home located at 9000
Lavergne Avenue, Skokie, IL. This year, as for past 7 yrs. the
festivities was celebrated in Nursing Home, to honor " Mataji,
Maa, Baa, or Mom" on occasion of Mother's Day. Satsang, Bhajan and
Kirtan was major activity of mother's day.
Whether she changed your diapers, forced you to eat
your vegetables or somehow cured your “owies†– Mother’s Day is the holiday to
show how much your mom means to you.
This day is celebrated in many parts of the world, turns 101
years old this year. Abraham Lincoln said “All that I am or ever hope to be, I
owe to my angel mother.†Mildred B. Vermont stated that "Being a
full-time mother is one of the highest-salaried jobs … since the payment is
pure love.†Kevin Durant quoted “You sacrificed for us. You’re the real
eternal MVP.
In the main Dining hall was converted in to
auditorium and was decorated with fitting decorations to include fresh flowers
garlands, colorful balloons and banner of "Happy
Mother's Day". Total of about 75 senior guest of 'Vaishnav Satsung
Mandal' meditation group came to celebrated the event with the
residents of facility. Together they chanted Bhajan and Kirtan and other
devotional songs, harmonically sung and complimented by instrumental music
of Khanjery Percussion instrument, Dhol (djembe), Harmonium and Manjra. The
happening lasted for about two and half hours. The
entire auditorim was packed by guests, senior residents and their
families. Many residents despite mobility restrictions, made their way with aid
of wheel chair, walker and cane. Besides Hindus, various others
ethnicities and religious attendees joined the festivity. All
disciples sang devotional songs praying and praising Lords Shrinathji,
Ram, Hanuman, Krishna with melodious music and
divulged in mystical spiritual Journey. The
entire nostalgic experience brought tears in eyes of many seniors
remembering and briefly reconnecting to those happy old days in their
motherland.
Curtain fell following final prayer of Arti. Prasad
(Offering of food to the divine supreme god) consisting of full dinner with
various sweets and many other healthy heart delicious stuff were enjoyed by
all.
Main guest participants were Mr. and Mrs. Narayan and Surya
Modi, Bharati Doshi, Manjula Mody, Dr. and Mrs. Chandrakant and Dina Modi, Dr.
and Mrs. Kirit and Maya Joshi, Champak Shah Vallabh Patel, Dayal and Sharda
Patel, Dipti Patel, Bhadra Shah. Minaxi Kansara and many others employees and
volunteers were instrumental in success of the entire event.
The Grove of Skokie Living and Rehab Center is located at 9000 North Lavergne, Skokie, IL

and long term rehabilitation, IV therapy, Wound Care, Hospice and
respite care. It accepts all kinds of insurances including
Medicare, Medicaid and self pay. The facility has a special wing
that accommodates Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi and other South
Asian residents. The unit is staffed by Indian/Pakistani physicians, nurses and
other ancillary personnel who speak over six common South Asian languages.
Homely Indian and Pakistani meals are prepared every day. The
facility offers free south Asian TV channels including Zee-TV, Star Asia that
can be viewed in every room, on a flat screen HD television.
