Kerala HC dismisses BJP's petition against Tharoor
Kochi, May 27
The Kerala High Court on
Wednesday dismissed a petition filed by BJP Thiruvananthapuram district
president S. Suresh challenging the election of Shashi Tharoor from the
Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency.
In a statement issued
here on Wednesday evening, Tharoor's office said Justice Bhavadasan
dismissed the allegation of the petitioner that Tharoor failed to
disclose the assets of his wife, late Sunanda Pushkar, in his election
affidavit and, therefor,e the acceptance of his nomination was improper.
The
court also turned down the plea of the petitioner to set aside the
election of Tharoor and declare O. Rajagopal of the BJP, who came
second, as elected.
