Forum by Women for both men and women at AAPI convention

Orlando, FL: “The 33rd annual American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) will have the traditional ‘Women’s Forum,’ but it is scaling new heights as a ‘Forum by Women’ for both Men and Women,” Dr. Ravi Jahagirdar, President of AAPI announced here today. The Forum will led by three prominent women will be held on Friday, June 19th, 2015 from 2 to 4pm at the Hotel Renaissance, SeaWorld, Orlando, FL.

Keeping with the theme of “Generations Many – Mission One” AAPI has enlisted three dynamic speakers who have been selected not only for their enthralling speaking abilities and their expertise in their fields, but also for the varied messages they will individually convey.

From the land locked state of Rajasthan comes young Miss Bhakti Sharma, a champion, competitive open water swimmer who has swum in all 5 continents including the freezing seas of Antarctica. She will speak of physical fitness and mental toughness required for such endeavors.

Vani Tripathi will discuss empowerment of women by actively engaging in the political arena. A movie star and former National Secretary for the Bhartiya Janata Party she will share her unique experiences and the challenges faced by women in India.

As a philosopher- writer – educator Dr. Margaret McLaren, from our home state of Florida, will provide her insight into economic justice for women globally. A frequent visitor to India, involved in women’s cooperatives she also is actively involved in spreading Gandhiji’s message to all corners of the world.

Over 1,000 talented and dedicated physicians and families of Indian origin are expected to gather and deliberate on ways to enhance their own professional growth and identify ways to network and stay united and offer a unified voice to protect their rights as well as explore possibilities to give back to the society at the 33rd Annual Convention to be held from June 17th through June 21st 2015 in the magical city of Orlando, FL.

According to Dr. Amish M. Parikh, the Chairman of the Convention, this event would be of immense benefit to the community at large and graciously invite all interested individuals to come to this session free of charge. Additionally, there will be two hours’ worth of access to the booths section and to attractive door prizes.

Describing the highlights of the convention, Dr. Ravi Jahagirdar, President of AAPI said, the Convention promises to be an unforgettable event. The annual convention this year is being organized by AAPI’s Florida Chapter. Elaborating on the efforts and preparations that have been devoted to put together this unique event, Dr. Parikh, chairman of AAPI 2015 Annual Convention, said, “We have been working for more than a year in putting together an attractive program for our annual get together, educational activity and family enjoyment. I and the Co-Chairs, are fortunate to have a dedicated team of convention committee members from Florida and surrounding areas helping us. We are expecting a record turnout and hence I would encourage early registration to avoid later disappointment.”

The American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) is the largest ethnic medical organization in the United States. AAPI is an umbrella organization which has nearly 130 local chapters, specialty societies and alumni organizations. For over 30 years, Indian physicians have made significant contributions to health care in this country, not only practicing in inner cities, rural areas and peripheral communities but also at the top medical schools and other academic centers. Almost 10%-12% of medical students entering US schools are of Indian origin.
