Mika arrested for assaulting doctor
New Delhi, June 11 : Singer Mika Singh was arrested on Thursday for allegedly assaulting a doctor here, police said.
"We have arrested the singer. He was accused of assaulting a doctor during a live musical concert in April. He has been taken to Inder Puri police station," a senior Delhi Police official told IANS.
A first information report was registered against Mika for slapping the doctor during a performance here in mid-April.
Mika had claimed the doctor was drunk and did not listen to him.
Police have registered a case of causing hurt and wrongful restraint against the Punjabi singer at Inder Puri police station in west Delhi.
The victim, Shrikant, an ophthalmologist at Ambedkar Hospital, reportedly suffered some internal injury in his left ear due to the assault.
Mika had said that the incident took place because of a rude gesture by Shrikant, after the singer had asked him not to stand among the women.
The incident took place on April 11 evening at a concert organised by the Delhi Ophthalmological Society (DOS) as a part of their three-day conference being held at the Delhi Pusa Institute Mela Ground in Inder Puri.
