Heritage dinner of Asian American Republican s in Yonkers, NY

Yonkers, New York: The 27th annual heritage dinner of Asian American Republican Committee was noted for the number of participants from a cross section of the society, in addition to several political leaders. It showcased the growing influence of the party among the Asians, especially Indians.

AARC chair Harry Singh welcomed the gathering. Pricilla Parameshwar, founding chair, who was instrumental in the growth of the party in Westchester area spoke about the achievements of the party over the years. She noted that the Indian community follows the same ideology of the party and most of us are conservatives in our outlook. She asked party members to work hard during the coming presidential elections for electing a Republican as President.

State Senator Terrence Murphy thanked the support of the Indian community and promised to work to empower the community. He asked more people to join politics, which is important for the growing community.

Westchester County Executive Robert P Astorino was all praise for the Indian community and termed them as a model minority. He thanked the community for its support for him. He also praised the work of AARC.

County Executive Astorino and Senator Murphy presented the awards of AARC to Merin Joseph (Person of the Year), Dr. Madan Bhatya (Community Service) and Rakesh Bahl (Entrepreneur of the Year) 

AARC secretary John Issac, treasurer Sunny Chacko, vice chair Ven Parameshwar, Human Rights Commissioner Thomas Koshy, George Madappallil and others led the event.
