Journalist covering Vyapam scam cremated
New Delhi, July 5
Journalist Akshay Singh, who
died dramatically in Madhya Pradesh while covering the Vyapam scam, was
cremated here on Sunday, with Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal attending it.
His body was
brought from Jhabua on Sunday morning. He was in Madhya Pradesh to do a
story on the recent deaths related to the Madhya Pradesh Vyavsayik
Pareeksha Mandal (Vyapam) scandal.
The journalist's family and friends attended the cremation at the Nigambodh ghat.
Other
political leaders who attended the cremation included Delhi Deputy
Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Congress leader Ajay Maken and Delhi BJP
president Satish Upadhyay.
Kejriwal and Gandhi also spoke with the journalist's family.
On
Saturday, Akshay Singh was in Meghnagar in Jhabua to talk to the family
members of scam-accused Namrata Damor, who herself was found dead under
mysterious circumstances.

Khan told IANS that Akshay Singh and his two colleagues interviewed the
family for around an hour, after which the journalist suddenly fell ill.
He was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him dead
