AAP government to help Pakistani Hindus
New Delhi, July 9 Delhi's AAP government said on Thursday that it will provide help to Pakistani Hindus in the capital after they told Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal that they were leading a miserable existence.
"They are living in inhuman conditions near Majnu ka Tilla (in north Delhi) without electricity and water. We have decided to help these families," an Aam Aadmi Party government official said.
The chief minister ordered an inspection of their living quarters after some of the Pakistani Hindus met him and detailed their many problems.
"We have decided to install solar power panels since they cannot be supplied power by power discoms," the official said.
A total of 54 Pakistani Hindu families have taken refuge in Delhi. None of them wants to return to Pakistan where they say Hindus are treated like third class citizens.
The AAP government official also said that the food supply department had been asked to provide food security to them.
