Chennai, July 24
Gold prices slid from
Rs.2,380 to Rs.2,344 per gram on Friday, spurring sales of gold
jewellery, said industry officials. A further fall in price is likely.
"Jewellery
shops in southern Tamil Nadu are reporting brisk sales. According to
them, sales have spiked up by around 30 percent. In Chennai also, sales
are good," Madras Jewellers and Diamond Merchants Association president
Jayantilal Challani told IANS here.
According to him, the price is expected to fall further on Monday.
