Modi, top leaders pay tribute to Kalam
Rameswaram (Tamil Nadu), July 30 Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid tribute to late former president A.P.J Abdul Kalam here.
"PM @narendramodi paying respect to the #PeoplesPresident #APJAbdulKalam," defence ministry spokesperson Sitanshu Kar tweeted along with a picture of the prime minister.
Modi was also seen interacting with Kalam's family.
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu, Kerala Governor P. Sathasivam, Tamil Nadu Governor K. Rosaiah, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and Rajya Sabha leader of opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad were among the prominent leaders present at the funeral.
Kalam died while addressing students at the Indian Institute of Management in Shillong on Monday.
