Eight bodies found in house after standoff in Texas
Washington, Aug 10 The bodies of five children and three adults were found inside a house in Texas following the arrest of a 49-year-old man involved in a standoff with police, media reports said.
The grisly discovery was made on Saturday night at the property in the Houston suburbs, Efe quoted Harris County Sheriff's Office spokesman Thomas Gilliland as saying.
Deputies went to the house to confirm everything was fine after receiving a call.
When they arrived on the scene, deputies learned that a man inside the house was the subject of an arrest warrant for aggravated assault on a family member.
Deputies tried to enter the house when no one opened the door and they spotted the body of a child through a window.
The suspect opened fire, forcing the deputies to move away from the house.
Negotiators were brought to the house and the suspect surrendered an hour later.
Investigators are trying to determine the suspect's relationship to the victims and the motive for the killings.
