MH370: Maldives debris to be examined
Kuala Lumpur, Aug 10 Malaysian authorities on Monday said it is sending a team of experts to the Maldives to investigate reports that debris from the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 have been discovered on the island nation.
"We will be dispatching a team to the Maldives to view the debris as well as conduct preliminary verification of the debris," Malaysian Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai said,
Images published in a local Maldivian newspaper showed several small objects it said had been found on one atoll, BBC reported.
However, Malaysian Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai said it was too soon to confirm if they were connected to flight MH370, the Beijing bound aircraft from Kuala Lumpur which vanished without a trace on March 8, 2014, with 239 people on board.
"Undue speculation will only stress the families and loved ones, anxiously awaiting news on this matter," the minister added.
The reports in the Maldives come after debris found on the remote French Indian Ocean island of Reunion on July 29, were confirmed to be from the missing plane.
Meanwhile, the French authorities are continuing their search for debris around Reunion.
