Air India to provide enhanced baggage limit for economy class

National carrier Air India
on Tuesday started a new promotional scheme offering an enhanced baggage
check-in allowance of 25 kg for passengers travelling in economy class
on its domestic network.
According to the airline, the offer is
valid from August 12, 2015 to February 7, 2016, across all fare levels
of the economy class.
"Passengers, who have booked before
August 12 will also get the benefit of the increased allowance.
Additionally, infants will now get a free baggage allowance of 10 kg,"
the airline was quoted in a statement.
On the international
sector, the airline has offered student travelling to the US, Britain,
Europe, Russia, Japan and Australia with enhanced baggage allowance
limit.
"Maharaja scholars offer is available for students
travelling from India to international destinations on a student visa,"
the airline said.
"The offer allows an extra piece of luggage
weighing up to 23 kg, in addition to the current checked baggage
allowance of one piece of luggage for the UK and Europe, or two pieces
of luggage for destinations in the US and Canada."
In addition to
the regular luggage allowance, 20 kg of free baggage is permitted for
students travelling to destinations such as Singapore, Bangkok, Hong
kong, Shanghai, Seoul, Sydney and Melbourne.
This scheme is valid between April 1, 2015 and March 31, 2016.
