Sheena murder case: Khanna confesses

In a major breakthrough in the
Sheena Bora murder case, one of the prime accused Sanjeev Khanna has
cracked and confessed to his role in the crime, Mumbai Police
Commissioner Rakesh Maria said here late on Friday.
Maria told
media persons that Khanna -- the first husband of co-accused Indrani
Mukherjea -- confessed to his role in the sensational murder case.
"(Indrani Mukherjea's son) Mikhail Bora has submitted some evidences to us. We are in the process of verifying it," Maria added.
Arrested on August 26, Khanna was brought here from Kolkata on Friday and remanded in custody till August 31.
On Friday afternoon, he was taken to the crime scene near Pen in Raigad district, around 95 km south of Mumbai.
Maria said skeletal remains of Sheena were recovered from the murder scene and they were being sent for forensic and DNA tests.
Mikhail,
who arrive here from Guwahati on Friday, provided certain evidence
pertaining to his sister's killing which was now being verified.
During the investigation, it also came to light that Indrani Mukherjea's claim of Sheena "studying in the US" was false.
Police have recovered Sheena's passport from Dehradun, though the exact motive behind the killing was still not known.
Besides Khanna and Indrani, her driver Shyam Rai has also been arrested and the trio remanded in police custody till August 31.
All
three have been charged with the killing of Sheena, Indrani's daughter,
setting her on fire and dumping her body in the Raigad forests.
