Raj Mathai to emcee, Kailash Kher to perform for Modi in US

Kailash Kher will perform live for Prime Minister Narendra Modi with his band Kailasa at Silicon Valley, California on September 27. He is proud to get the opportunity.

“Proud moment #Kailasa live in concert at PM Narendra Modi in Silicon Valley,” the “Teri deewani” crooner tweeted on Wednesday.

He also shared a poster for the event, which read: “Kailash Kher to perform at SAP Center for PM Narendra Modi community reception Sunday, September 27 San Jose”.

The singer, who is known for his soul-stirring songs, further shared that he will also meet Modi, whom he considers his “favourite”.

“Meeting my favourite PM @narendramodi @PMOIndia in #SiliconValley #Kailasa #Music #Passion come together,” he posted.

Talking about his plans for the performance, Kher shared that “Songs from #Kailasa Albums and #Bahubali all Are going to be part of our set line up on stage in #Sap Center San Jose #KailasaToRock California”.

Modi on Wednesday left on a visit to Ireland and the US. He will spend Wednesday in Ireland and will depart for New York the same evening for the US leg of his tour. He will be in the US till September 29.

Modi had earlier nominated Kher to take forward the message to clean India through his 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' campaign.

Actress Ashwini Bhave, Indian American journalist Raj Mathai, and comedian Rajiv Satyal will emcee the community reception at the SAP Center Sept. 27 welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Silicon Valley, where he will share his vision of innovation for a Digital India.

Bhave, a well-known Bollywood actress and longtime resident of the Bay Area, has an acting career that has spanned over 40 films with several critically-acclaimed performances. Her more recent projects have focused on social causes, and she has played the role of executive producer and director on such projects.

Six-time Emmy award winner Mathai is the weeknight news anchor for NBC Bay Area and is among the Bay Area’s most well-known TV personalities. He also hosts a series titled "The Interview." In 1995, Mathai became one of the country's first Indian American sportscasters. Prior to his career in television, he served as a public relations assistant for the San Diego Chargers for five seasons.

A standup comedian and writer from Cincinnati, Ohio, Satyal hosts his own weekly show at the Laugh Factory in Hollywood and has been featured on numerous media outlets. In August 2014, Rajiv released a video, “I Am Indian,” that went viral. He co-created the world-touring “Make Chai Not War,” a Hindu/Muslim stand-up show sponsored by the U.S. State Department.
