12 killed as US transport plane crashes in Afghanistan
Kabul: At least 12 people were killed after a US transport plane crashed at a local airport in Afghanistan's Jalalabad city late Thursday, sources said early Friday.
"The C-130 American plane crashed at Jalalabad airport at around midnight, leaving the causalities," a source told Xinhua anonymously.
Five US military soldiers were among the killed, according to sources.
Details about the incident and cause of the crash remained unknown.
"There is no new information about the incident yet," a coalition spokesman, Toney Wickman, told Xinhua, adding more information will be released as appropriate.
On June last year, a C-130 four engine plane made an emergency landing in western Afghanistan and caused no casualties.
