Kuwait, Oct 12 Kuwaiti authorities are set to hold a meeting to discuss the mechanism of bringing in Indian workers to the country after New Delhi imposed new rules for people seeking to work abroad.

"Indian labourers are still on hold as Indian authorities have imposed a bank guarantee for their domestic helpers, as a condition to bring them to Kuwait," the Kuwait Times quoted Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah, interior ministry assistant undersecretary for nationality and residency affairs, as saying on Monday.

Al-Jarrah will discuss the terms with Sulaiman Al-Fahad, interior ministry undersecretary of Kuwait.

He said that a Kuwaiti employer will not have to bear any additional burden for bringing in an Indian labourer.

In order for an Indian applicant to be granted a visa, the immigration administration have imposed a condition that applicant must have a financial guarantee in the form of a bank guarantee.

The purpose of the bank guarantee scheme is to enable the immigration administration to pursue a more flexible and liberal visa practice which gives the applicant an opportunity to strengthen his/her return conditions.

Al-Jarrah added that Bangladeshi labourers can also come to work in Kuwait.
