Ghulam Ali to perform in Delhi on November 8
New Delhi, Oct 15 Well known Pakistani ghazal singer Ghulam Ali, whose concerts in Maharashtra were cancelled due to Shiv Sena threats, will perform here on November 8, it was announced on Thursday.
Delhi Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra tweeted: "Delhi will host Ghulam Ali Saab. You spread hatred, we will keep on promoting brotherhood." He said the event will take place on November 8, Sunday.
Delhi's ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had on October 8 invited the noted singer to perform in the national capital, a day after his Mumbai concert was called off.
The 74-year-old Pakistani singer was to perform as part of the death anniversary tribute to singer Jagjit Singh. But the show in Mumbai was axed after the Shiv Sena threatened to disrupt it.
His concert in Pune was also cancelled.
The AAP had condemned the Shiv Sena for issuing the threats, and also attacked the BJP-led Maharashtra government for not providing protection to the Ghulam Ali show.
