Will drop case against ink attackers: Rashid
New Delhi, Oct 20 Engineer Rashid, an independent legislator from Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday said he will withdraw the cases against those who threw ink on him here a day earlier.
"I am withdrawing the cases against the two (attackers) as I believe they are misguided by some fringe elements," Rashid told IANS here.
"They are not the only ones. There are many more across the country. I have sympathy for them," he said.
Rashid said the ink attack on him outside the Press Club on Monday "is not a big issue. The core issue needs to be resolved".
Describing India as a "so-called democracy", he said the fundamental rights of people should not be violated by anyone.
The little known Hindu Sena claimed responsibility for the ink attack on Rashid, who was earlier beaten up by Bharatiya Janata Party legislators in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly for hosting a beef party.
