Slipper thrown at former NSA Narayanan
Chennai, Nov 4 Former West Bengal governor and national security advisor (NSA) M.K. Narayanan was assaulted by a member of a fringe organisation with a slipper here on Wednesday.
Narayanan was here to participate in a discussion on the topic "The Future of Sri Lankan Tamil Refugees in India", organised by The Hindu Centre for Politics and Public Policy.
The man threw a slipper at Narayanan when he had got down from the dais.
He also shouted that Narayanan had helped Sri Lanka during the internal war in 2009.
Those present at the venue caught the man and police took him away.
According to police, the man's name was Prabhakaran and he was a member of the May 17 Movement, a struggle for a separate Tamil Eelam nation.
