Haryana paddy arrival crosses 55 lakh tonnes
Chandigarh, Nov 26 Paddy arrival in Haryana has crossed the 55 lakh tonnes mark this year against a projected target of around 36 lakh tonnes, a state food and supplies department official said on Thursday.
The arrival and procurement of paddy crop in Haryana is much higher this year compared to last year, the officials said here.
"During the current Kharif season, more than 55.05 lakh tonnes of paddy has arrived in the mandis of Haryana till November 25. During this period last year, 43.20 lakh tonnes of paddy had arrived in the mandis," a food and supplies department spokesman said.
The arrival of paddy is much higher than the 36 lakh tonnes target set by the department this year.
Government agencies have procured over 42.39 lakh tonnes paddy so far.
Karnal, Kurukshetra and Kaithal districts were leading in paddy arrival and procurement.
