Sam Kannappan appointed Secretary of Texas Board of Professional Engineers

Sockalingam Sam Kannappan was appointed as Secretary, Texas Board of Professional Engineers (TBPE) on November 19 in Austin, Texas. He will be signing all new licenses to be issued. TBPE issues, monitors and renews licenses for 57,000 engineers. Kannappan also serves as the Enforcement Committee Chairman for the Board. 

Kannappan is a professional engineer and senior design engineer for SNC-Lavalin Hydrocarbons and Chemicals. He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Gas Pipeline Safety Research Committee, a board member of the Society of Piping Engineers and Designers, and an advisory board member of the Asia Society of Texas.

Born in Nattarasankottai in Sivaganga district of Tamil Nadu, Kannappan is a past member of the Texas On-Site Wastewater Treatment Research Council.

Kannappan received a bachelor's degree from Annamalai University and a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas.
