President greets nation on Lohri, Pongal
New Delhi, Jan 12: President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday wished people "happiness and prosperity" on the occasion of Lohri, Makar Sankranti and Pongal.
"On the auspicious occasion of Lohri, Makar Sankranti and Pongal, I extend warm greetings to my fellow citizens and wish them success, happiness and prosperity," the president said in a statement.
Lohri will be celebrated on Wednesday while Makar Sankranti and Pongal fall on Thursday.
"Let us celebrate these harvest festivals with gaiety and fervour, promoting love and understanding amongst all. May these events bind the communities and regions of India in fraternal love and inspire us to work for the unity and progress of our country," the president said.
