Kerala businessman held guilty of running down guard
Thrissur (Kerala), Jan 20 A court here on Wednesday convicted a businessman of running down a security guard with his car in a fit of rage.
Thrissur additional district and sessions judge K.P. Sudhir pronounced Mohammed Nisham guilty and said the quantum of punishment would be announced on Thursday.
The prosecution had said that Nisham rammed his Hummer vehicle into 47-year-old Chandra Bose on December 29, 2014, and also beat him up. Bose was working as a security guard in a posh residential complex near here.
After battling for life for 48 days at a hospital, Bose succumbed to his injuries on February 15, last year.
Prosecution counsel Udayabhanu told reporters that they have sought maximum punishment for the businessman.
"Since he also claims to be a wealthy businessman, we have asked for a compensation of Rs.5 crore for the bereaved family," said Udayabhanu.
The Kerala government had announced a government job for Bose's wife.
Owner of the Kings Group of Companies, Nisham courted controversy after his seven-year-old son's photograph driving his car was put up on social media. In another case, he allegedly abused a woman police official for checking his vehicle.
