Hope Kashmir gets elected government soon: Governor
Jammu, Jan 26 Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra on Tuesday hoped that the state will get an elected government soon.
"I hope the elected government will soon assume office in the state," the governor said in a speech at the official Republic Day function at the Maula Azad stadium here.
He also paid tribute to late chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, whose death on January 7 led to Governor's Rule.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti is expected to lead a new PDP-led government in the state.
Sayeed had presided over a PDP-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government but his death led to speculation that the coalition might collapse.
Mehbooba Mufti attended the official Republic Day function in Srinagar, the summer capital. It was her first public appearance after her father passed away.
