BJP destroying pro-poor policies launched by Congress: Rahul

New Delhi, Feb 5 Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Friday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government for giving excuses on various issues and charged the BJP with "destroying" all the pro-poor policies initiated by his party.
"We have been attacking the government for being anti-poor, anti-farmer and anti-labourer and anti-worker, and I wanted to get a sense from the PCC presidents about what is being done with regard to MNREGA, right to food, the tribal bill in their states and how the BJP is attacking and trying to destroy these acts," he said after addressing a meeting of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) presidents at the party office here.
"They have done quite a good presentation. As the opposition, we want to put pressure on government so that they pay attention to poor people, to the pain of farmers in India, the pain of the workers and labourers in this country today," he added.
"We are not going to let the BJP to run a government that acts only in the interest of three or four of their crony capitalist friends," said Gandhi.
Attacking Modi, he said: "The job of the prime minister is to run the country. The job of the PM is not to make excuses. All that the PM has been doing for the last 18 months is to make excuses why the economy is not running, why the farmers are not getting their due, why the labourers are not getting what they should get."
"India did not choose Narendra Modi to make excuses. India chose a leader and the leader should not make excuses, the leader should do the job that he has been elected to do," he asserted.
