Train services to Jammu remain suspended for second day
Jammu, Feb 21 Train services to Jammu remained suspended for the second day on Sunday due to the ongoing Jat agitation in Haryana.
"All rail services to Jammu city and Katra town from other parts of the country and vice versa will remain suspended today (Sunday)," a Northern Railway official told IANS here.
Other modes of inter-state public and private transport also remained suspended on Sunday because of the law and order situation in six districts of Haryana where a quota agitation by the Jat community has paralysed the state.
Thousands of passengers, mostly pilgrims to Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Katra town of Reasi district, were stranded because of suspension of inter-state traffic.
Meanwhile, authorities have made special arrangements for administering polio drops to children of stranded pilgrims and those of other passengers at Katra and Jammu railway stations on Sunday.
February 21 has been designated anti-polio day as part of the nationwide pulse polio programme.
