TANA Foundation Conducts Mega Cancer Screening Camp in Guntur

TANA Foundation, the charitable arm of Telugu Association of North America (TANA), very successfully organized one of the biggest cancer-screening camps in the world in Guntur on Saturday, February 20, 2017, in partnership with Grace Foundation of Hyderabad and Bible Mission of Guntur. More than 200 physicians, 400 nurses and other healthcare workers and many volunteers participated in this camp. From initial reports, 2790 women were screened for breast and cervical cancer in one single day. 193 women screened positive for breast cancer, and we are waiting for the results of the cervical cancer screening. Follow-up arrangements would be made for those screening positive for cancer. This event is being considered for inclusion by the Guinness Book of World Records.
Dr. Chowdary Jampala, President of TANA, and Sreenivasa Gogineni, Chairman of TANA Foundation offered their sincere thanks to the Grace Foundation and all the physicians, nurses, healthcare workers and volunteers that enthusiastically participated in this screening. Without them, this camp would not have been possible.
Several TANA leaders stepped up in making this happen. Sri Jayaram Komati, Director of TANA and AP Govt Special Representative for US, Sri Jay Talluri, Sri Ramakant Koya, Sri Trilok Kantheti, Sri Prasad Garapati and others provided financial and logistical support for this camp. Sri Ashok Babu Kolla and Sri Anil Lingamaneni, TANA Foundation Project Coordinators for Cancer Screening, took an active role in organizing the camp. The camp was inaugurated by Sri Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, Speaker of AP Assembly and was attended by several dignitaries.
TANA Foundation supports orphan children and provides them meals, healthcare and education. It conducts health camps in rural areas, brings vision to thousands of people thru its eye-camps, helps build clean water and sanitation facilities throughout the Telugu states. Also, TANA Foundation provides scholarships to meritorious poor students and establishes libraries in government schools.
