Canada pledges over $30 mn for polio eradication in Pakistan
Ottawa, April 5 : The Canadian government has announced support for Pakistan's programme of eradication of polio from the country with a pledge of over $30 million.
In a meeting with Pakistan's Canada envoy Tariq Azim Khan, Minister for International Development, Department of Foreign Affairs, Canada Marie Claude Bibeau on Monday announced two polio eradication projects costing 40 million Canadian dollars (US $30 million) to support the government of Pakistan's National Emergency Action Plan for polio eradication, the Nation reported.
The projects would be implemented through the World Health Organisation and Unicef in collaboration with the Pakistani government.
