Kerala tribal leader C.K. Janu floats new party
Alappuzha (Kerala), April 6 Tribal leader C.K. Janu on Wednesday announced the formation of a new political party which would be part of the BJP-led alliance and fight the upcoming assembly polls.
Announcing the name of her party as the Janandhipathiya Rashtriya Sabha, Janu hinted that she will be contesting the assembly polls from Sultan Bathery constituency in Wayanad district.
"The party will consist of tribal people and others," Janu told reporters after a meeting with SNDP Hindu Ezhava leader Velapally Natesan at his home near here.
State BJP president Kummanem Rajasekheran on Wednesday pledged full support to her and the new party.
Polling for Kerala's 140-member legislature will take place on May 16.
