Imams, mouzzins in Telangana to get honorarium
Hyderabad, April 23
Imams and mouzzins of mosques in Telangana will get monthly honorarium of Rs.1,000 each from the state government, it was announced on Saturday.
Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali will launch the scheme on Sunday and they will be paid arrears from the month of July 2015.
Under the first phase, honorarium for 551 imams and mouzzins of mosques under Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits is being released ay the rate of Rs.9,000 each including arrears.
Telangana State Wakf Board said that for the payments will be made after the completion of verification process, and will be credited into their bank accounts.
Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao had announced the scheme last year.
