Tennis: Gavrilova deprives Kvitova of defending Madrid Open
Madrid, May 4: Australian woman tennis player Daria Gavrilova stunned Czech Petra Kvitova at the Madrid Open pre-quarterfinals here on Wednesday.
The Australian, World No.39, upset No.6 Kvitova 6-3, 6-4 in one hour and 41 minutes, reports Efe.
Gavrilova advanced to the tournament quarter-finals for her first participation in Madrid to face United States' Louisa Chirico, whose opponent Belarusian Victoria Azarenka withdrew because of back problems.
