AIADMK trails in Chennai
Chennai, May 19
Although Tamil Nadu's ruling AIADMK was on the road to victory on Thursday, it seemed set to lose most seats in Chennai, which were battered by floods last year.
According to counting trends, AIADMK candidates were trailing behind the DMK in 12 of the 16 constituencies in the capital.
Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, however, led in her Radhakrishnan Nagar constituency in the city.
Chennai, badly hit by floods in December, seems to have overwhelmingly voted against the ruling party.
The DMK had in its election campaign played up the havoc caused by the floods.
