Modi congratulates Mamata, Jayalalithaa
New Delhi, May 19 () Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday congratulated Chief Ministers Mamata Banerjeee and J. Jayalalithaa for leading their parties to victory in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu.
"Spoke to Mamata and congratulated her on the impressive victory," Modi tweeted as the Trinamool Congress seemed set to bag a two-thirds majority in the 294-member West Bengal assembly.
Modi said he also spoke to Jayalalithaa on telephone. "Also conveyed my best wishes to her." Proving exit polls wrong, the AIADMK appeared set to retain power in Tamil Nadu.
