Alleged cattle smuggler killed in Mathura
Lucknow, May 21 A man suspected of being a cattle smuggler was shot dead on Saturday morning in Mathura in Uttar Pradesh, police said.
The incident took place at Barsana when some locals fired at a group of people allegedly smuggling cows.
The alleged smugglers fired back but one of them was killed on the spot. Another person was injured while the others managed to escape, the police said.
Villagers said over a dozen cows had gone missing in the past 15 days in the region.
