Media baron Subhash Chandra elected to Rajya Sabha
Chandigarh, June 11
Media baron Subhash Chandra was on Saturday elected to the Rajya Sabha from Haryana.
Chandra, an independent candidate supported by the BJP, scraped through amid political drama during the vote count.
Assembly sources said 13 votes of Congress legislators were rejected following Saturday's polling. He defeated Delhi-based lawyer and INLD supported candidate R.K. Anand.
Union minister Birender Singh was also elected to the Rajya Sabha. He secured 40 votes.
An earlier IANS story had incorrectly stated that Subhash Chandra lost the election.
