Sayreville, New Jersey:  Twenty-year-old Vishal Shah has been charged with the murder of his father Pradipkum Shah, 53, in the family's borough home, according to a report in NJ.com

Shah was charged the evening of June 12 with the murder of his father, who was shot in his home on June 10 and died the next day at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey.

Carey said Vishal Shah was also charged with hindering his own apprehension by hiding the gun that was used in the shooting and the unlawful possession of the weapon.

Carey said Shah shot his father once in their home on Lakeview Drive in the Parlin section of the borough at 9:43 a.m. and then hid the weapon, a .25 caliber handgun.

He did not give a motive for the shooting.

Shah was being held in the Middlesex County jail in lieu of $1 million bail as of Monday morning. He pleaded not guilty to murder
