Two militants killed, gunfight ends
Srinagar, June 17 Security forces on Friday shot dead two militants holed up in a house in Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore town following a gun battle, police said.
"Both militants have been killed in Chana Mohalla area," a police officer said here. "The firing has stopped but searches are going on there."
Two AK-47 rifles and some ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.
It is not yet clear to which group the two militants belonged.
The security forces surrounded the house following information that two militants were hiding inside. They opened fire, triggering a gunfight.
In no time, youths from neighbouring localities started pelting stones at the security forces.
Police used batons and tear smoke shells to quell the protesting youths.
