France-Germany tie drew largest TV audience in France since 2006
Paris, July 8 :The Euro football championship semi-final between France and Germany drew the largest TV audience in France since 2006, according to statistics company Médiamétrie.
The TF1 channel that aired the match played in Marseille said in a statement that it had a total audience share of 68.8 per cent with 19.2 million viewers, and 22.2 million at its peak, reports Efe.
Such figures have not been seen since 2006, when matches of the French national team during the World Cup against Portugal and Italy drew audiences of 22.2 million and 22.1 million, respectively.
The Euro 2016 final -- when France face Portugal on Sunday at the Stade de France here -- could set a new record that would benefit the M6 channel, which shares with TF1 the broadcasting rights of the main matches of the championship.
