Rio's latex -- Olympics will be raunchiest (Rio Diary)
Rio de Janeiro, Aug 5 The action is just not on-field but off it as well. The latest edition of the globe's greatest sporting extravaganza promises to be the raunchiest in history with some 450,000 condoms, including 100,000 female condoms being doled out by the organisers.
While the London Games set a record with 150,000 condoms, prompting tabloids to dub it "the raunchiest Games ever", Rio has not only smashed that latex record, but also created its own history with the introduction of female condoms.
Giant condom vending machines have been installed all across the Games Village. With an average of 42 condoms for each of them, the 10,500 competitors won't have to sweat for the latex.
The trend of supplying the latex began at the Seoul Games in 1988 when 8,500 condoms were distributed. The figure went up to 90,000 at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992.
