Indian carriers to start full services to Dubai from Sunday
New Delhi, Aug 6 Indian passenger carriers on Saturday said they will restore full flight services to Dubai International Airport from August 7.
The announcements by the Indian carriers came three days after the airport had curtailed operations due to the unavailability of runway slots.
The runway was closed due to an accident which occurred on August 3 when an Emirates flight from Thiruvananthapuram to Dubai caught fire after it crash-landed at the airport.
Airline major Jet Airways said that it will restore its full flight schedule to Dubai from August 7, 2016 following the resumption of normal operations at Dubai Airport.
"On August 4 and 5, 2016, Jet Airways operated wide-body aircraft to Dubai and re-routed its narrow body aircraft to Sharjah to facilitate the travel of its guests ensuring minimum disruption, given the limited operating slots at Dubai," a spokesperson for the airline said.
"On these two days, Jet Airways operated a total of two A330 and four Boeing 777 flights to and from Dubai with 1,786 guests and 16 flights on Boeing 737 aircraft to and from Sharjah with 2,237 guests."
The airline major further said that it will re-route some of its Dubai departures from Delhi and Mangalore to Sharjah on Saturday.
Low cost carrier IndiGo said: "Due to partial slot availability at Dubai on 6th August, IndiGo is operating a curtailed schedule with 7 flights to and from Dubai."
"IndiGo will resume full flight schedule of all 11 flights to and from Dubai effective 7th August," the airline said in a statement.
However, budget passenger carrier SpiceJet said that all of its nine flights from India to Dubai will fly as per schedule on Saturday.
On Wednesday, Emirates flight EK521, ferrying 282 passengers and 18 crew, caught fire when it crash-landed at the Dubai International Airport.
All passengers and crew were evacuated safely. After the incident, Dubai International Airport was closed for about six hours.
