Singer Bhairavi Dhandapani to perform at the Nashville International Festival

Noted singer Bhairavi Dhandapani will perform at Rhythm Express India at the Nashville International Festival, October 1.

The festival is sponsored by the Avadhut Spiritual and Cultural Foundation. City of Nashville conducts International Music festival every year in Nashville downtown Centennial Park.

Dhandapani is a noted exponent of classical and Carnatic music and performs along with world famous tabla player Prodyut Mukherjee from Kolkata and sarangi player Ustad Kamal Sabri from Delhi.

Dhandapani, a music teacher in New York, has sung at the music festival in Los Angeles with Viji Prakash dance company earlier. She also sang for Tamil Sangam in California and New York and was the anchor of the show by SV Sekhar, noted singer and actor from Tamil films.

In New York her concerts were held at Kerala Samajam, Telegu Literary and Cultural Association, and Kalavedi Arts, among others. She also performed at the Hanuman Temple, Sai Baba Temple and Ganesh Temple in Flushing several times along with her students.

She had also performed in several cities across the country.

Dhandapani is a gold-medalist alumnus of Kalakshetra, Chennai. She holds a bachelor's degree and masters degree in music from the University of Madras. She recently submitted her PhD thesis to the Mother Teresa University at Kodaikanal.

She is a playback singer in movies and has performed for musical programs for TV.

She also interviewed most of the playback singers and music directors in South India as well as film heroes and heroines like Vijay, Surya, Barath, Prithivi Raj, Sneha , Pooja , Gopica and Vivek.

Dhandapani has won several awards including Best Compeer award in  2006 from Tamil Nadu Cine Kalai Mandram, Visvaseva Award in 2007 and Film Fans Award for best compeer in 2009.

Her album, Navarathna Sai Devotional was a super hit in 2006.

‘I have done several star night programs with all play back singers with Asthapovadu Yaru Program mimicry artists, doing compeering and singing in Music Director Sabesh Murali and Sreekanth Deva programs and public shows,’ she said.
